Former New Patriotic Party (NPP) General Secretary, John Boadu, has attributed the party’s loss in the 2024 elections to internal decisions, particularly the decision to allow government appointees to contest constituency primaries against incumbent MPs.
Boadu emphasized that appointees should have only contested in orphan constituencies, not those with sitting MPs.
He also criticized the party for failing to reward those who sacrificed during the party’s opposition years, leading to frustration.
Boadu pointed out that government appointees often received more benefits than MPs, further straining party unity.
He also noted that the withdrawal of some ministers from their positions contributed to the party’s poor performance, urging the NPP to address these issues for future success.
