John Jinapor inaugurates committee to probe Akosombo Dam Spillage

John Jinapor, the Member of Parliament for Yapei-Kusawgu and former Deputy Minister of Energy, has initiated a committee to investigate the recent spillage from the Akosombo Dam. This action comes in response to growing concerns about the impact of the dam's water release on surrounding communities and infrastructure. The committee's primary aim is to assess the situation thoroughly, determine the causes and consequences of the spillage, and provide recommendations for future management.

Jinapor underscored that understanding these issues is essential for preventing similar occurrences in the future. He emphasized that while hydroelectric power generation is crucial, it should not come at the expense of local livelihoods or safety. The committee will include representatives from various stakeholder groups to ensure a comprehensive evaluation. Jinapor called upon affected residents to share their experiences with the committee to facilitate a transparent investigation process, ultimately aiming for enhanced dam management practices moving forward.
