Journalists urged to engage in galamsey fight as active citizens

Dr. Kenneth Ashigbey, Convener of the Media Coalition Against Galamsey, has urged journalists to actively hold public officials accountable in the fight against illegal mining.

Following the suspension of Organised Labour's planned strike after government assurances to protect water bodies and forests, he stressed the importance of media oversight.

Dr. Ashigbey called for clear timelines and progress reports on government anti-galamsey initiatives, emphasizing that the media should focus on the core issue rather than on labor disputes, to ensure effective action against illegal mining.
