Judith Darkey-Nanor appointed special advisor for YAWC West Africa

Judith Kafui Darkey-Nanor has been appointed as Special Advisor for the West Africa Sub Regional Chapters of the Young African Women Congress (YAWC) Network.

Her appointment is for two years and can be renewed. The Founder and Executive Chairperson, Mr. Daniel Osei Tuffuor, sent her a congratulatory letter.

The YAWC Network empowers young women of African descent in Africa and the diaspora. It aims to foster leadership and development on the continent.

The Network mobilizes women from grassroots levels through advocacy, training, and projects. As Special Advisor, Ms. Darkey-Nanor will consult with chapter leaders on network growth.

She will provide analysis, recommendations, and guidance on policy decisions. Her role includes addressing regional issues like economic development and governance.

Ms. Darkey-Nanor will represent the Network at meetings and conferences. She will facilitate dialogues between stakeholders to resolve regional issues.

Additionally, she will advocate for programs that meet subregional needs. She will also offer crisis management advice during conflicts or disasters.

Judith Kafui Darkey-Nanor is currently the Executive Director of the Gold Hearted Foundation. She has extensive experience in social and humanitarian work.

She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Psychology, along with a Master of Philosophy in Social Work from the University of Ghana. Her focus is on advancing gender and children's issues.

Through her Foundation, she has helped hundreds of Ghanaian girls affected by menstrual period poverty. These girls receive sanitary products, hygiene supplies, health education, and empowerment training annually.

Under her leadership, she initiated efforts to pay medical bills for detained children in Ghana to secure their release.

Ms. Darkey-Nanor served as a Technical Assistant for Ghana’s Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty (LEAP) program for over two years. She helped develop an effective case management system during this time.

She also worked at Bulk Oil Distribution and Transportation (BOST) Ltd., enhancing its brand image through corporate communication efforts.

Since joining YAWC, Ms. Darkey-Nanor has actively participated in global committees focused on girl child education and campaigns against Female Genital Mutilation.
