Julius Neequaye Kotey, CEO of the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA), is surprised by a large debt. This debt was inherited from his predecessor, Agyemang Busia.
In an interview with TV3, he said the financial burden shocked him. He did not expect to face such legacy debts.
Kotey explained that every operation at DVLA involves some costs. Discovering this debt from Busia was unexpected for him.
He shared details about the debt amounts. The cedi account has nearly GHC300 million in debt. The dollar account holds approximately $151 million.
Kotey emphasized these figures clearly. “For the cedi account, it is close to GHC300 million,” he stated. “For the dollar account, it is close to $151 million.”
To tackle this issue, Kotey plans a system audit. He wants to understand the situation better before taking action.
“We are going for a system audit,” he said. “After that, we will know what the issues are.”
