Justice Atuguba pledges to uphold academic freedom at UCC

Justice William Atuguba is the new Chairman of the University of Cape Coast (UCC) Council. He is a retired Supreme Court judge.

During a meeting with departmental heads on May 13, he made a commitment. He promised to promote academic freedom and enhance academic excellence.

Justice Atuguba stressed the importance of unity at the university. He acknowledged that his role comes with significant challenges.

He said, “This appointment is not an easy one; it has its issues.”

He urged everyone to work together for the university's betterment. He also emphasized restoring academic standards at UCC.
