Former MP for Adansi Asokwa, K.T. Hammond, has filed a defamation lawsuit against broadcaster Captain Smart over alleged tribal remarks.
The legal action follows comments made on Onua TV, where Smart and his co-host claimed Hammond questioned how someone from a different tribe could win the Adansi Asokwa seat in the Ashanti Region.
The controversy erupted after the December 7, 2024, elections, where Hammond lost his seat to the NDC’s Godwin Animli Dorani. Hammond denies the allegations, arguing they paint him as a tribalist.
His lawsuit seeks damages, an injunction against defamatory statements, a public retraction and apology, content removal, and legal costs.
