KATH pledges to resolve water crisis affecting surgeries

The management at Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) is addressing a water crisis. This issue has led to the suspension of non-emergency surgeries. Only emergency cases are currently being performed.

Kwame Frimpong, the Public Relations Officer of KATH, spoke about the situation. He said the hospital has not received water from Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) for 10 days. This lack of supply is severely affecting healthcare delivery.

Management is working with GWCL to restore water supply. They are also seeking help from the Ghana National Fire Service and private suppliers for temporary relief.

Mr. Frimpong emphasized the need for a long-term solution. He called for investment in expanding the hospital's water supply and storage capacity. This would help prevent future disruptions.

He also urged GWCL to create a dedicated pipeline for KATH. This would ensure that the hospital does not compete with nearby communities for water resources.

Despite these challenges, the hospital remains committed to providing quality healthcare. They hope for a swift resolution to this crisis.
