KATH renal unit undergoes transformation, dialysis machines increase from two to 20

The Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) has renovated its dialysis center. This is part of their commitment to improve services for kidney failure patients.

Chief Executive Officer Prof. Otchere Addai-Mensah announced the hospital spent GH¢436,462.68 on renovations. This funding came from internal sources and partner contributions.

The number of dialysis machines increased from 2 to 20. This change aims to meet the growing demand for treatment.

Prof. Addai-Mensah spoke at the hospital's 2024 performance review conference. The theme was “Seven Decades of Impacting Lives through Specialist Clinical Services, Training and Research.”

Daily outpatient department attendance rose from 1,259 in 2023 to 1,302 in 2024. Emergency admissions also increased from 26,298 to 27,996, a rise of 6.5 percent.

The CEO highlighted the ‘Heal Komfo Anokye Project’ as a significant success. He noted the transformation of Wards A3, 4 & 5 under this project’s first phase.

Prof. Addai-Mensah thanked Otumfuo Osei-Tutu II for his support in transforming old facilities into modern inpatient areas.

He also praised the CEOs of Justmoh Construction and Joshob Construction for their dedication to the project.

He urged the public and corporate Ghana to continue donating for its successful completion.
