Kosmos Innovation Centre (KIC) has launched the Women’s Bootcamp. This initiative is supported by the Mastercard Foundation. KIC donated agro-processing equipment to women-led agribusiness groups in Ghana's Eastern Region.
These groups consist of young women trained in entrepreneurship and agro-processing. The new machinery will help them expand their operations and impact their communities. Each group received equipment tailored to their specific processing needs.
In Kwaebibirem District, a rice milling machine was given to Kade's women's group. Twumusu received a cassava processing machine and screw press. Kwamang's group got a corn milling machine, while Amanfrom received a palm oil digester. Gari processors in Amaarkrom were also given a cassava processing machine.
Benjamin Gyan-Kesse, Executive Director of KIC, spoke before the event. He emphasized KIC's commitment to helping women entrepreneurs add value to agriculture. He noted that empowering these groups helps them scale operations and create jobs.
Terrence Tienaah represented Gyan-Kesse at the April 16 event. He highlighted KIC’s role in capacity building and mentoring for entrepreneurship development. “The Women Bootcamp creates long-term value for women-led agribusinesses,” he said.
Beneficiaries expressed gratitude for the support from KIC and Mastercard Foundation. Grace Asabea from Amaarkrom said, “This machine will change how we work.” Georgina Nornu from Kade added, “This is a dream come true.”
KIC’s Women’s Bootcamp has trained over 12,000 young women nationwide. They provide skills training, starter packs, and input support with Mastercard Foundation's backing. The ceremony included Municipal Agricultural Directors, Traditional Leaders, and Assembly Members, highlighting its importance for local development.
