KIC conducts business validation trips for 44 startups in Agritech pro challenge

Kosmos Innovation Center (KIC) has organized Business Validation Trips. These trips are for the 44 startups in the KIC Agritech Pro Challenge. They provide mentorship and assess the startups' business ideas. The goal is to evaluate their viability for funding and scaling.

Initially, 52 startups received USD2,000 in traction funding. This funding helped them develop their agribusiness concepts. After a pitch event, 44 startups advanced to the next competition stage. The validation trips check how these startups used their support. They also review progress, operations, customer engagement, partnerships, and overall readiness.

The visits took place across various regions. The KIC team engaged directly with founders and community stakeholders. Ato Ulzen-Appiah, an Entrepreneurship Development Specialist at KIC, stated that this process ensures support for valuable startups.

He added that the trips showcase innovation and commitment at grassroots levels. Each team presented their achievements using traction funding. This included product development and improving service delivery.

Kamil Nabong, Portfolio Manager at KIC, discussed the impact of these engagements. He noted that the trips help understand challenges faced by startups. They also celebrate creativity and resilience while assessing progress toward the next phase.

As the Agritech Pro Challenge approaches its final phase, insights from these visits will be crucial. They will shape support for promising ventures in Ghana’s agricultural value chain. The Grand Finale for the KIC Pro Challenge is set for May in Kumasi.
