KIC partners with FDA to support Food Innovation start-ups in Ghana

Kosmos Innovation Center (KIC) has partnered with the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) Ghana. This collaboration aims to support young entrepreneurs in food innovation.

The partnership will help bridge the gap between creative food products and regulatory requirements. It ensures start-ups meet high safety and quality standards.

KIC and FDA Ghana will offer guidance, training, and mentorship. This support will help start-ups navigate the FDA certification process more effectively.

Young entrepreneurs can bring their innovative food products to market faster. This enhances their business growth and competitiveness.

At the MOU signing ceremony, Benjamin Gyan-Kesse, KIC Executive Director, spoke about the partnership's importance. He said it helps start-ups achieve FDA certification for global standards. It also creates access to new markets while ensuring consumer safety.

He added that this partnership will establish mentorship sessions aligning food innovation with regulatory excellence.

Dr. Delese Mimi Darko, CEO of the FDA, emphasized their dedication to supporting MSMEs. She stated that they focus on helping businesses meet compliance standards for food safety.

"As regulators with a difference," she said, "the FDA empowers MSMEs to bring products to market." This commitment is part of their Progressive Licensing Scheme.

She also mentioned the Industrial Support Directorate within the FDA. This directorate provides targeted assistance to regulated industries for navigating regulations successfully.

This partnership shows KIC’s commitment to fostering innovation and sustainable growth for young agripreneurs. It also highlights FDA Ghana’s dedication to supporting local businesses while ensuring consumer safety.

Through this joint effort, KIC and FDA Ghana are paving the way for a new era of food innovation in Ghana. Entrepreneurs will be empowered to create products that meet global standards.
