Richard Ofori-Agyemang Boadi's Warning to Traders
Richard Ofori-Agyemang Boadi, known as King Zuba, is the new CEO of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA). Before starting his role, he issued a warning to traders and hawkers. He said they must stop blocking pedestrians and vehicles in the Central Business District. If they do not comply, he threatened public flogging.
In his first media encounter, King Zuba reflected on past experiences. He mentioned that police efforts to remove hawkers were ineffective. He plans to use his own "military-democratic" style of governance instead.
King Zuba stated he prefers not to rely heavily on police intervention. He believes it wastes time and resources when hawkers return after being arrested. Instead, he intends to take direct action with his team.
He warned that if traders do not leave designated areas, they will face consequences. "If I am there with my boys," he said, "we will beat you." He emphasized that traders should avoid selling on pavements in the CBD.
King Zuba stressed the importance of preserving Kumasi's image as Otumfuo’s city. He aims for a clean and disciplined environment in Kumasi. His approach is focused on ensuring order and respect for public spaces.
