KNUST student stabbed during NPP “Thank You Tour” in Bantama

A student from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) is in the hospital. He was stabbed multiple times during a violent incident in Kumasi.

The altercation happened on Tuesday at a New Patriotic Party (NPP) event. This event took place at the Pentecost Church in Bantama.

The victim was part of a Jama group from Unity Hall. They were hired by former MP Kennedy Agyapong to perform at the event.

Eyewitnesses report that tensions rose after an associate of Agyapong gave money to the performers. Shortly after, armed men, allegedly linked to the NPP, arrived and seized the cash.

A confrontation ensued between the Jama group and these armed men. Gunshots were fired during this chaos, resulting in one member being stabbed.

He was quickly taken to Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital for treatment. He remains under medical care, but his condition is not publicly known.

Kennedy Agyapong and his team have reported the incident to police. As of Wednesday, no arrests have been made.

This incident has raised concerns about security within the NPP, especially in Ashanti Region.
