Some users on X have claimed that the Ministry of Finance paid social media influencer Kalyjay GHC300,000. This payment was allegedly for organizing a pre-budget workshop on X.
The Finance Minister sought input from Ghanaian youths before the 2025 Budget Presentation. On March 9, 2025, he hosted a live discussion on X Spaces. He encouraged Ghanaians to share their views and expectations about the budget.
An alleged memo from the Finance Ministry was shared by netizens. It stated that the ministry planned to organize a Pre-Budget Workshop on X. The goal was to gather opinions from young citizens for the 2025 Budget.
The memo requested GHC300,000 for this event and included a breakdown of expenses. Some users questioned why such a large amount was spent on Kalyjay's account.
One user wrote, “What is stopping the Finance Minister from paying George and his colleagues?” Another commented on Kalyjay’s earnings compared to others in politics.
Additionally, one netizen accused Kalyjay of being fraudulent. They contrasted him with another influencer, calling Kalyjay a puppet to his masters.
In response, the Finance Ministry denied these allegations on X. They stated that the memo circulating online is fake.
