Residents of Krachi-East are calling on the government to replace the malfunctioning ferry at Dambai to improve transportation in the region.
Speaking on their behalf, Ewe Chief Togbe Kpatalidza highlighted the worsening situation since November 2024, leaving traders stranded for days.
The ferry’s breakdown has disrupted the Dambai market, forcing traders to use expensive engine boats, raising commodity prices.
Travelers from Accra, Tema, and Ho also face long delays or costly detours through Nkwanta. The chief stressed that economic activities in the region depend on reliable transport and urged the government to provide a new pontoon immediately.
For a lasting solution, he advocated for constructing a bridge over the Oti River to boost regional development.
