Kasoa Traders’ makeshift shelter blocking a traffic light removed

The Awutu Senya East Assembly has removed a makeshift shelter in Kasoa. This shelter was built by traders and obstructed a traffic light. The action restored safe visibility and improved traffic flow.

A viral video showed traders constructing the shed over the traffic light. This sparked widespread outrage on social media. Many were shocked that such an obstruction could happen.

In the video, one person commented, “This can only happen in Kasoa.” They expressed disbelief that traders would cover a traffic light while conducting business.

The video emerged during the Accra Mayor's decongestion exercise, which began on May 20, 2025. The AMA task forces and police dismantled unauthorized stalls and kiosks across key areas.

Some Ghanaians reacted strongly to the video. One said, “If you mistakenly pick up a passenger here, a policeman will arrest you.” Another noted there is a police station nearby but questioned their effectiveness.

One user criticized the blatant disregard for public property. They stated it was unacceptable to extend structures into the road area. Another pointed out that good citizens are needed alongside good leadership in Ghana.

Overall, there is significant frustration over this incident and similar issues in Kasoa.
