Commercial drivers in Kasoa municipality have praised the government. They appreciate the consistent reduction in fuel prices under President John Mahama. This change has provided significant relief for their daily operations.
Several drivers spoke to Class News’ Samuel Addo. They expressed satisfaction with falling fuel costs during President Mahama’s first 120 days. They urged the government to keep this momentum going.
Bless, a commercial driver in Kasoa, shared his experience. Before 2025, GHC300 worth of fuel lasted barely a day. Now, he can run his daily routes on just GHC200.
Other drivers agreed with him. They noted that lower prices have improved their earnings and reduced financial stress.
However, Moses Antwi, Vice Chairman for the Kumasi-Nkawkaw Station, raised concerns. He said some fuel stations haven’t adjusted their prices due to illegal practices. He called on regulatory authorities to enforce compliance for all drivers.
Mr. Antwi also asked the government to ensure spare parts prices reflect the cedi's appreciation. Currently, these costs remain high despite currency stability.
Drivers in Kasoa and beyond hope this economic relief continues. They believe it will improve livelihoods and lower operational costs across the transport industry.
