Former Energy Minister Herbert Krapa has dismissed allegations of imminent load shedding in Ghana, urging the newly elected NDC government to focus on effective power sector management rather than blaming the previous administration.
Responding to comments by John Jinapor, Co-Chairman of the NDC Transition Team’s Energy sub-committee, Krapa refuted claims that Ghana’s fuel stock is critically low, threatening outages.
Jinapor had alleged that only five hours of fuel remained for power generation, warning of a potential crisis.
Krapa countered, stating the Akufo-Addo administration left sufficient fuel reserves, including light crude oil for Cenpower and heavy fuel oil for AKSA.
He emphasized that maintaining stable electricity now rests with the NDC, urging them to prioritize planning and procurement.
“Stop finger-pointing and get to work. We managed to keep the lights on for eight years, even in challenging times. You can do it too,” Krapa stated.
