The National Petroleum Authority (NPA) has cautioned the public against storing LPG cylinders indoors, warning that gas leaks, though invisible, pose a serious fire risk.
Head of Consumer Services at NPA, Eunice Budu Nyarko, emphasized this during an awareness campaign in major Eastern Region communities, urging consumers to keep cylinders in well-ventilated areas.
Johnson Gbagbo Jnr. from NPA’s Gas Directorate promoted the Cylinder Recirculation Model (CRM), allowing users to exchange old cylinders for refilled ones, ensuring safer LPG usage.
Meanwhile, fire safety officials demonstrated proper handling techniques to prevent accidents.
The sensitization campaign, backed by the Oil Sustainability Programme and the Ministry of Energy, seeks to encourage cleaner energy use while ensuring public safety.
