The National Labour Commission (NLC) has upheld the 2023 dismissal of Martin Akowuah by former National Identification Authority (NIA) Executive Secretary, Professor Ken Attafuah.
Akowuah was fired for unilaterally changing working hours at the NIA’s Madina district office without approval. After investigating his complaint, the NLC ruled on March 14 that Attafuah acted within the legal framework governing public service employment.
Responding to the verdict, Attafuah defended his fairness in leadership, emphasizing his commitment to integrity and human rights.
He lamented the challenges of institutional leadership in Ghana, citing excessive politicization and misinformation as obstacles to governance. However, he expressed relief that the truth had prevailed in this case.
