Ken Ofori-Atta declared wanted again by OSP

The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has declared former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta a wanted person. He failed to appear in person as directed by the office.

Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng issued a stern notice on June 3. He stated that patience with Mr. Ofori-Atta has run out. The OSP described his actions as repeated delays and noncompliance.

Agyebeng emphasized that they have always requested his attendance. They are unwilling to waive this requirement. If they accepted statements from him remotely, they would have done so earlier.

Mr. Ofori-Atta had requested a virtual session due to medical reasons. His legal team submitted documents explaining he was receiving treatment abroad. However, the OSP insists he must appear in person for ongoing investigations.

These investigations involve alleged financial misconduct, including money laundering and causing financial loss to the state. This declaration reinstates Mr. Ofori-Atta on the wanted list. It may lead to further international enforcement actions, such as an INTERPOL Red Notice.

More details will follow soon regarding this situation.
