Ken Ofori-Atta, the former finance minister, missed another appointment with the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) today, June 2.
His legal team stated he could not attend due to health issues. They have informed both the OSP and the Human Rights Court about his situation. Medical reports detailing his condition and upcoming surgery were also submitted.
Reports indicate that Ofori-Atta has offered to participate in the investigation virtually. The OSP has not yet updated Ghanaians on this development.
The OSP previously accused him of causing financial loss to the state. This includes issues related to the National Cathedral and contracts involving the Ghana Revenue Authority and other entities.
During a press conference, an OSP official referred to him as a fugitive. They noted that he is 66 years old and served as finance minister from 2017 to 2024. He reportedly left Ghana around January 2, 2025.
On January 24, 2025, the OSP informed him he was a suspect in four cases. He was asked to attend an interview on February 10, but his lawyers said he was out of jurisdiction for medical reasons.
The OSP had announced that Ken Ofori-Atta should report on June 2, 2025. Their official account on X confirmed this expectation in response to public inquiries.
They warned that if he fails to show up today, he will be placed back on their wanted list.
