Ken Ofori-Atta’s lawyer rebuts OSP’s ‘dismissal’ of medical report

Legal counsel for former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta, Mr. Frank Davies, has responded to the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP). The OSP claimed it did not receive a certified medical report explaining Mr. Ofori-Atta’s absence from Ghana.

The OSP dismissed a medical report that suggested the former minister is unfit to travel. They stated they have not received any documentation from Mr. Ofori-Atta or his legal team.

The disputed document is dated May 14, 2025. It was reportedly signed by Dr. Ahmed Abdalrhim, an internal medicine specialist at Mayo Clinic in Minnesota. This document surfaced online on June 3.

In response to the OSP's claims, Mr. Davies insisted that the medical report was submitted through formal channels. He said, “This is a very unclever attempt to ignore and deny evidence.” He added that the report was included in court filings on May 27 and served to the OSP.

Mr. Davies spoke on Top Story on Joy FM and questioned the basis of the OSP’s comments about Mr. Ofori-Atta’s cancer diagnosis. He asked how the Special Prosecutor could make such claims without seeing relevant medical records.

He concluded by urging the OSP to act fairly and impartially in their duties. “Public officers must exercise their power reasonably, fairly, and objectively,” he cautioned.
