Kennedy Agyapong’s claims inspired NDC’s ORAL campaign– Journalist alleges

A surprising revelation has emerged about the National Democratic Congress (NDC) campaign message, ‘Operation Recover All Loot’ (ORAL).

Journalist Kwaku Dawuro claims the slogan was inspired by Kennedy Agyapong. Agyapong is a former legislator from Assin Central. He accused members of his own party, the New Patriotic Party (NPP), of corruption.

On the Movement in the Morning Political Show, Dawuro explained that ORAL gained popularity after Agyapong's allegations. He claimed certain NPP officials misappropriated state resources.

Dawuro recounted Agyapong's statement about Mr. Henry Quartey stealing government lands. He said Quartey sold one land to Agyapong, which caused trouble for him.

These remarks caught the attention of then-candidate John Dramani Mahama. Mahama incorporated this idea into his campaign, promising to recover stolen assets if elected.

The NDC’s adoption of this message reinforced their promise to hold NPP officials accountable. It also strengthened their stance on corruption and governance.

These claims add complexity to post-election political discussions. They raise questions about how campaign narratives are formed and unexpected influences behind them.
