Former Member of Parliament Kennedy Ohene Agyapong has spoken about the Bawku conflict. He urged all parties to support Otumfuo Osei Tutu II in his mediation efforts.
Agyapong believes that peace in Bawku means peace for all of Ghana. He stated, “No part of this country can prosper while another is in pain.” He emphasized that Ghana must move forward together.
In a statement on April 13, 2025, he expressed concern over rising tensions in Bawku and nearby areas. The ongoing violence stems from long-standing tribal conflicts. This situation causes pain and instability for many people.
He called for calm, especially among the youth. No grievance justifies loss of life or destruction of communities. Peaceful coexistence is essential for Ghana's prosperity and development.
Agyapong praised President Mahama for initiating the mediation process with Otumfuo Osei Tutu II. This effort was originally set up by former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. It shows statesmanship and national unity above politics.
He urged all parties to support the committee led by Otumfuo Osei Tutu II. When there is peace in Bawku, there is peace in Ghana. Leaders and citizens must work together to restore lasting peace.
