The Kenyans in Ghana Association (KGA) recently hosted its 2025 Family Fun Day. Over 120 members of the Kenyan community attended. The day was filled with laughter, connection, and celebration.
The event took place at the University of Ghana’s Athletic Oval Field. It welcomed both adults and children for an afternoon of games, food, and music. Activities included three-legged races, football matches, dance-offs, and kids’ painting sessions.
Family Fun Day is a key event on KGA’s annual calendar. It promotes unity among Kenyans living in Ghana. The event provides a platform for networking and celebrating their shared identity.
This year’s edition stood out for its vibrant energy and seamless organization. Most importantly, it ensured a safe environment without injuries.
Families arrived wearing team-colored shirts, ready for fun. Children ran freely across the lawns while adults joined in the competitions with enthusiasm.
Mr. Kottut, Acting High Commissioner of the Kenya High Commission in Ghana, was the Guest of Honour. He praised the event during his remarks:
“This event truly captured the warmth and unity of Kenyans abroad. It was wonderful to see our community reconnect through fun and laughter. We are proud to support initiatives that bring our diaspora together.”
Ms. Emma Wenani, Chairperson of KGA, expressed her pride in the event's success:
“We are incredibly proud of how this year turned out. It’s heartwarming to see families come together and enjoy themselves. Events like this remind us of community importance even when we’re far from home.”
The success of Family Fun Day relied on generous support from sponsors and partners. These included the Kenya High Commission, Unity Homes, Multi Pac Ghana Ltd., and FanMilk.
KGA thanks all attendees, volunteers, and sponsors who made the day memorable. The Association looks forward to future events that strengthen the Kenyan community in Ghana.
