Unidentified men armed with bulldozers partially demolished a private building belonging to Emmanuel Gemegah, the Keta Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), on December 29, 2024.

The incident, which occurred at the disputed Keta reclaimed lands near the Emancipation Beach, also saw the demolition of a fence wall owned by Rocky Amugi.

The men accused the MCE of illegally developing land designated for a stadium.

Police intervention halted further demolition.

This follows earlier protests and a 2024 attack by youth who marked the MCE’s building with "Stop Work."

Protesters argue the land is meant for public use, while the matter remains before the Sogakope High Court.

The ongoing controversy has fueled tensions in the community.
