Member of Parliament Eric Edem Agbana is committed to improving education in Ketu North. He announced a set of interventions to enhance teaching and learning.
During a meeting with the Municipal Education Management Team, he expressed concern over declining educational outcomes. He stressed the need for all stakeholders to work together to reverse this trend.
Mr. Agbana introduced five key interventions:
1. Free Weekend Classes for JHS Students: Starting July 2025, final-year Junior High School students will have weekend revision sessions. These classes will be funded by the MP’s office and led by subject specialists.
2. MP’s Education Excellence Awards: In response to teacher requests, Mr. Agbana will launch awards to honor dedicated teachers and education workers. The first event is scheduled for October 2025.
3. Support for Sports Development: The MP has pledged GHC20,000 and 50 mattresses for basic schools participating in the Inter-District Sports Festival in Hohoe.
4. BECE Examination Support: To help candidates prepare, the MP provided examination materials to the Municipal Education Directorate for mock tests.
5. Technology Enhancement: The MP donated Apple iMac computers to modernize administrative operations at the Education Directorate through a partnership with Lifetime Wells, a US-based NGO.
“These are just initial steps,” Mr. Agbana said. He mentioned that more initiatives are being planned and will be announced soon.
He urged all education stakeholders to recommit to excellence in Ketu North. “The transformation begins with empowering our children through quality education,” he emphasized.
Finally, he called on residents of Ketu North to support efforts for community development and transformation.
