Communities in the Ketu South Municipality, including Salakope and Agavedzi, are grappling with devastation as tidal waves destroy homes, fishing equipment, and other belongings.
The disaster, which began on January 16, has left over 100 residents displaced, with seawater threatening to breach the Keta-Aflao main road and flood nearby lagoons.
Eben Asar, Head of Assessment Members for Salakope Electoral Area, described the situation as dire, calling for immediate intervention from authorities.
Displaced victims have been advised to seek shelter with family, but relief from previous tidal waves is still pending.
Residents believe climate change and environmental disruptions, including past sandbar cuts to manage Akosombo dam spillage, have exacerbated the problem. They urge the government and philanthropists to prioritize constructing a sea defense wall to prevent further destruction.
