Kidnapped Chinese sailors rescued, brought to Ghana

Chinese sailors were kidnapped during a pirate attack on the Ghanaian vessel MENGXIN 1. They have been rescued in Nigeria and taken to Ghana.

Four suspects have been arrested by the police in connection with this case. They appeared before the Tema District Court.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Lydia Yaako Donkor announced this at a press conference in Accra on Tuesday.

DCOP Donkor stated that the police received a complaint from a fishing company in Tema. The complaint reported that five sea pirates attacked the MENGXIN 1, with three armed with AK47 rifles. Gunshots were fired during the attack in Ghana’s territorial waters.
