Kidnapping case not closed, investigations ongoing – Police

The Ghana Police Service is investigating the kidnapping of two women. They were recently rescued in Nigeria after a viral video showed their ordeal.

The rescue involved a coordinated operation between Ghanaian and Nigerian security agencies. Three suspects were arrested in Nigeria, and five others were detained in Ghana. These arrests are part of a larger crackdown on a suspected kidnapping syndicate.

ACP Grace Ansah-Akrofi, the Director of Public Affairs, spoke to Channel One Newsroom on May 2. She confirmed that the victims are safe and healthy. However, she noted that the full details of the case are still being established.

ACP Ansah-Akrofi mentioned that updates will be provided as investigations progress. This includes information about whether a ransom was demanded. She assured the public that they will receive complete details once the investigation concludes.

"The victims have been rescued and they are well," she stated. "We’re yet to complete our investigations." She emphasized that they will keep everyone informed as new information arises.
