Madam Mary Kyei, the mother of three siblings arrested in connection with the murder of a mobile money vendor in Kumasi, is demanding an apology from the police.
She insists her children were wrongfully detained and publicly paraded as suspects, leading to social stigma and job losses.
According to her, two of her sons were arrested at home while officers pursued their tenant, while the third was detained when he inquired about his brothers’ arrests.
Their images and videos went viral before their eventual release, resulting in job terminations and public ridicule.
She appealed to the Deputy Regional Police Commander, who ordered their release, but the damage had already been done. The family now seeks a formal police apology to restore their reputation.
