The Ministry of Royal Palaces, Protocol, and Chancellery announced that King Mohammed VI presided over the Laylat al-Qadr ceremony on Thursday.
Due to recent surgery, the Moroccan monarch will perform prayers while seated. This is because of difficulties with certain movements and postures.
On March 26, 2025, the Ministry released a statement. It said King Mohammed VI will chair a religious vigil on Thursday evening. This event commemorates Laylat al-Qadr at the Royal Palace in Rabat.
Following his left shoulder surgery, the king faces some constraints. He will perform the Isha and Taraweeh prayers while seated. The decision aligns with the saying: “Those who remember Allah while standing, sitting, and lying on their sides.”
The religious vigil will be broadcast live on radio and television during Al-Isha prayer time.
