Vice President of IMANI Africa, Kofi Bentil, has lauded President John Mahama for reversing the sale of state lands disposed of under the previous administration.

However, he urged the president to implement stricter measures to prevent future political misuse of public assets.

Speaking on JoyNews, Bentil emphasized the need for clear guidelines under Article 296 to eliminate discretionary allocation of state properties. He stressed that public officials must act as stewards, ensuring governance is not used for personal gain.

Bentil criticized the longstanding practice of political allies benefiting from state resources, arguing that all public assets, including lands and vehicles, should only be sold through a transparent, lawful process.

He cited constitutional provisions, including Article 257 and the Public Procurement Act, which mandate fair disposal of state property to ensure maximum national benefit.
