IMANI Africa’s Vice President, Kofi Bentil, has called for greater support for the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP), emphasizing the need for stronger laws and institutional backing to combat corruption.
Speaking on JoyNews on March 8, Bentil stressed that history shows corruption cannot be tackled without legal enforcement and political will.
He urged Parliament to pass crucial laws that would prevent politically exposed individuals from abusing their positions for corrupt gains.
Bentil also advocated for expanding the OSP’s mandate, improving its security, and ensuring adequate resources for independent operations.
He noted that despite multiple commissions of inquiry and military interventions, corruption persists, arguing that Ghana must focus on building robust institutions rather than expecting immediate results.
