The New Juaben South Municipal Assembly has summoned shop owners in the Central Business District. Driver unions and market queens who missed a cleanup exercise are also included. This event took place today in Koforidua.
The cleanup was organized by the new MCE for Koforidua. It received support from Daasebere Kwaku Boateng III, the Omanhene of New Juaben. Sub-chiefs, personnel from the 1st Infantry Battalion, and the Koforidua Divisional Police Command also participated.
These efforts aim to address flooding and poor sanitation in Koforidua. After the cleanup, MCE Ransford Owusu Boakye spoke with Citi News. He stated that shop owners must appear before a committee on May 26th, 2025.
They will explain their absence from the exercise. Mr. Boakye thanked everyone who participated in the cleanup. He urged residents in flood-prone areas to stay calm.
He has tasked the works department with finding solutions for poor drainage. If necessary, they may demolish structures to allow floodwaters to flow freely.
