Former Information Minister Kojo Oppong Nkrumah has defended Felix Kwakye-Ofosu. Kwakye-Ofosu is the Minister for Government Communications. This comes amid controversy over suspicious flights linked to drug trafficking and money laundering at Kotoka International Airport.
Oppong Nkrumah expressed solidarity with Kwakye-Ofosu. He stated that Kwakye-Ofosu did not make up the information. Instead, he relayed a briefing that was incorrect.
“Look at this Air Med matter... I don’t think he cooked up that story,” said Oppong Nkrumah. “I believe it was a brief he was given.” He added, “I will defend my brother Felix any day.”
The remarks follow rising tensions over allegations made by Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, MP for Assin South. These claims have stirred political debate, with officials denying wrongdoing.
Critics accuse the government of a possible cover-up. Oppong Nkrumah acknowledged the sensitive nature of the issue. He noted that Kwakye-Ofosu’s role as a spokesperson can lead to misunderstandings.
“How would he know? You are only a government spokesperson,” he said. “Felix is doing a very difficult job; I wish him well.”
