Koo Fori pleads not guilty to $50,000 fraud charge, granted GH₵320,000 bail

Ghanaian comic actor Koo Fori, whose real name is Samuel Seth Kwabena Kyere Karikari, has pleaded not guilty. He faces charges of defrauding a US-based Ghanaian of $50,000.

Koo Fori appeared in the Dansoman Circuit Court on Monday, May 12. He was arrested by the Accra Central Police Command on Friday, May 9.

He has been charged with defrauding under false pretences. The court granted him bail set at ₵320,000 with three sureties.

Police sources say Koo Fori received funds from a Ghanaian in California. He claimed he would facilitate a legitimate investment opportunity.

However, he failed to honor the agreement and went into hiding. The victim filed a complaint after attempts to recover the money failed.

Investigations showed that Koo Fori did not refund the money. He also ignored a summons to appear in court on April 17. His refusal led to a bench warrant for his arrest.
