Krachi East MP urges traders to reduce prices as Cedi strengthens

Krachi East MP Nelson Kofi Djabab has urged traders to lower prices. He made this call in response to the recent appreciation of the Ghanaian Cedi.

On May 29, 2025, he spoke to the media about this issue. The Cedi has appreciated by 28% against the US dollar. It has also risen by 22% against the British pound and 21% against the euro.

Djabab noted that this appreciation has led to a 15% drop in fuel prices and transport fares. He believes that a stronger Cedi is an important economic achievement. This should provide relief for Ghanaians facing high living costs.

He stated, “These are major strides for the performance of the Cedi.” Djabab emphasized that importers and wholesalers should understand consumers' struggles. He called for significant price reductions on goods and services so everyone can benefit.
