The Eastern Regional Minister-Designate, Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey, has received strong backing from the Konor of Manya Krobo, Nene Sakite II, and Oklepeme Nuer Annorbaa Sasraku II, Paramount Chief of Yilo Krobo, ahead of her vetting on January 17, 2025.

During a courtesy visit, the chiefs praised President John Dramani Mahama for appointing Awatey, calling it a recognition of the Krobo people’s contributions to national progress.

They likened her nomination to Seth Terkper’s earlier appointment as Finance Minister.

Awatey pledged to tackle issues such as poor roads, illegal mining, youth unemployment, and gender inequalities, assuring the chiefs of her dedication to regional development.

The visit emphasized unity between traditional leaders and government in driving growth.
