Victims of the recent fire outbreak at Kumasi’s Adum PZ have turned down a donation of rice and oil from Interior Minister, Hon. Muntaka Mubarak Mohamed.

The Asawase MP had arrived with a truckload of food items, but the affected traders insisted that their priority is the reconstruction of their business space rather than food aid.

Speaking to the media, they vowed to resist any attempts to evacuate them from the land.

In response, the minister called for practical solutions to curb market fires, revealing that Ghana records an average of 50 fire incidents daily between October and February.

While pledging his support for the victims’ recovery, he emphasized the need for measures to protect the economy from recurring fire disasters.
