Police in the Ashanti Region are investigating four people. They work at the Revenue Department of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly. These individuals were arrested for allegedly printing fake revenue tickets.
The tickets were issued to traders at the Kumasi Central Market. Sources from Citi News say they are part of a syndicate. This group prints and issues unauthorized tickets to market traders.
Funds collected from these tickets do not go to the Assembly. This leads to revenue losses for the Assembly. The identities of those arrested have not been disclosed.
The Assembly is cooperating with police for prosecution. They are also trying to arrest other accomplices who are still at large.
