Kumasi: Firefighters extinguish Adum blaze after 48-hour battle

Authorities warn the public to avoid weakened structures Authorities warn the public to avoid weakened structures

Firefighters in Kumasi have successfully doused the devastating fire that ravaged parts of Adum after battling the flames for 48 hours.

The inferno destroyed several businesses, leaving traders counting heavy losses.

Despite structural challenges, emergency crews worked tirelessly to contain the blaze.

However, a viral video of Ashanti Regional Minister Dr. Frank Amoakohene instructing firefighters to move their engines if they insisted on a standby tanker has sparked criticism.

Fire Commander ACFO II Peter Tetteh condemned the remarks, calling them “unfair and demoralizing.”

Meanwhile, Acting Fire Chief Daniella Ntow Sapong assured full medical support for injured responders and vowed to investigate attacks on firefighters.

Authorities warn the public to avoid weakened structures as officials assess the damage.
