Kumawu NDC office vandalised in protest against nomination of ex-PC as DCE

Sualey Olanto Yakubu addressed the media at a press conference.

The Kumawu Zongo branch of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) opposes Mr. Akwasi Amankwaa's nomination as DCE.

Zongo youth vandalized the party's Kumawu office to express their anger.

They believe nominating Mr. Amankwaa insults the intelligence of Zongo communities in Sekyere Kumawu Constituency.

Mr. Yakubu, Secretary of the constituency Elections Directorate, spoke at the press conference. He claimed Mr. Amankwaa made derogatory comments about Zongos. He allegedly said he would not allow a native from Zongo to lead the party.

Mr. Yakubu emphasized that the Zongo community played a significant role in recent elections. Their grievances must be addressed, he stated.

The youth prefer Shamsu Huda for District Chief Executive (DCE). He is the deputy constituency secretary and has worked hard for the party.

They urged President John Dramani Mahama and the Local Government Minister to appoint Mr. Huda as DCE. If not, they warned they would take matters into their own hands.
