Kusaug Chiefs Grateful To IGP For Visiting Bawku

IGP Mr. Christian Tetteh Yohuno's Visit to Bawku

Zug-Raan Naba Asigri Abugrago Azoka II, the Overlord of Kusaug, praised IGP Christian Tetteh Yohuno for visiting Bawku. He urged the Chief Constable to redeploy police personnel to restore order in the town.

The Overlord is committed to achieving lasting peace and unity in Bawku. He is ready to work with security agencies and other stakeholders for stability.

Bawku has faced recent violence, leading to loss of lives and property damage. This unrest raises national security concerns. The Kusaug Traditional Council welcomed the IGP’s visit as a sign of police commitment to transparency and justice.

In a statement dated April 14, 2025, Secretary David Adoilbs commended the IGP’s resolve to investigate a recent incident that resulted in one death and several injuries. The Council noted this aligns with their values of community identity and development through peace.

The statement emphasized Zug-Raan Azoka II’s role as a peace advocate in Bawku. It reiterated his calls for unity and dialogue among residents. The Council urged youth to remain calm, avoid violence, and trust the judicial process.

“Dialogue and cooperation are essential for resolving conflict,” the statement said. “Let us work together through peaceful advocacy for justice.”

The Council called on all parties to prioritize peace and unity. They also praised the IGP’s engagement with local leaders as a positive step forward.

“By collaborating and discussing constructively, we can resolve conflicts effectively,” concluded the statement. Bawku has long faced ethnic tensions, prompting ongoing appeals from leaders for dialogue and restraint.
