Kusaug Chiefs Grateful To IGP For Visiting Bawku

IGP Mr. Christian Tetteh Yohuno's Visit to Bawku

Zug-Raan Naba Asigri Abugrago Azoka II, the Overlord of Kusaug, praised IGP Christian Tetteh Yohuno. He appreciated the IGP’s recent visit to Bawku.

However, he urged the Chief Constable to redeploy police personnel there. This is necessary to restore law and order in the town.

The Overlord reaffirmed his commitment to lasting peace in Bawku. He expressed readiness to work with security agencies and stakeholders for stability.

Bawku has faced sporadic violence recently. This unrest has led to loss of lives and property damage.

The Kusaug Traditional Council welcomed the IGP’s visit. They see it as a sign of police commitment to transparency and justice.

In a statement dated April 14, 2025, Secretary David Adoilbs commended the IGP’s resolve. The IGP plans to investigate a recent incident that resulted in one death and several injuries.

The Council noted this approach aligns with their values of community safety and development through peace. They emphasized Zug-Raan Azoka II’s role as a long-time peace advocate in Bawku.

The Council reiterated calls for unity and dialogue among residents. They urged youth to remain calm, avoid violence, and trust the judicial process.

“We believe dialogue is essential for resolving conflict,” the statement said. “Let us work together through peaceful advocacy for justice.”

The Council called on all parties to prioritize peace and unity. They also praised the IGP’s engagement with local leaders as a positive step forward.

“By collaborating and discussing constructively, we can resolve conflicts effectively,” they concluded.

Bawku has faced ongoing ethnic and chieftaincy tensions over time. Traditional leaders have continuously appealed for dialogue and restraint from all sides.
