Elvis Darko, editor of Newscenta Newspaper, has criticized business conferences in Ghana. He calls for immediate and practical action instead. His comments follow the recent Kwahu Business Forum.
On Channel One TV's Breakfast Daily, Darko expressed his concerns. He believes valuable resources are wasted on forums that help little. Entrepreneurs and the broader business environment suffer as a result.
Darko emphasized that Ghana knows its economic challenges well. What is needed now is decisive implementation, not more discussions. "We just waste money on talkshops," he said.
He pointed out that funds spent could support young businesses. For 20 years, the problems have been known but ignored. "We only go to conferences and talk," he added.
Darko questioned the effectiveness of recurring conferences over the years. He noted longstanding reports already highlight these issues. "Every year, AGI lists the top ten problems for businesses," he stated.
"They hold press conferences to inform the government," he continued. "So why do we need another forum?"
