Felix Kwakye Ofosu has clarified that the absence of former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr. George Akuffo Dampare from President John Dramani Mahama’s meeting with outgoing security chiefs was due to health reasons.

President Mahama met with former heads of the Immigration Service, Prisons, and Fire Service at the Jubilee House on Monday to express appreciation for their service. However, Dampare’s absence in released photos raised concerns among the public.

Speaking on GH One TV, Kwakye Ofosu explained that Dampare had been invited but had formally excused himself due to illness.

“The briefing I have is that he put in an excuse duty that he was a bit indisposed on the day because he was part of those who were invited to the presidency for that engagement with the president,” he stated.

Meanwhile, Kwakye Ofosu said he was unaware of reports suggesting that the former IGP had been offered an ambassadorial role.
