Kwakye Ofosu gives new update on Professor Opoku-Agyemang following health scare

Vice President Health Update: Kwakye Ofosu on Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang

Felix Kwakye Ofosu has provided an update on Vice President Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang's health.

She was first hospitalized at the University of Ghana Medical Centre on March 29.

On April 7, 2025, she began a three-week medical leave based on her doctors' advice.

Kwakye Ofosu, Minister of State in Charge of Government Communications, spoke to Channel One TV on April 8. He stated that Opoku-Agyemang is in good health and resting.

He assured the public that she would return to her duties soon after a break in the UK.

“She is currently taking a short rest as advised by her doctors,” he said.

Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa also confirmed that Opoku-Agyemang is doing well.

About Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang's Illness

Opoku-Agyemang is Ghana's first woman vice president. She fell ill suddenly on March 29 and was hospitalized.

The presidency announced that she might seek further treatment abroad. This has raised concerns about Ghana’s healthcare system from the Economic Fighters League.

On March 31, Opoku-Agyemang expressed gratitude for the well wishes regarding her health.
